Do you actually enjoy being free?

Everybody talks about freedom nowadays. How everyone should have the space to do whatever they want. There should be choices available for all in all fields. One should not be denied any opportunity based upon the features such as colour, caste, gender, etc. However,

Are we capable of handling freedom?

This may sound very confusing, given everyone wants to be free from something. Children may wish for more freedom from their parents. Parents may want more responsible behaviour from their children to get freedom from certain responsibilities. Employees want more freedom from their bosses. Bosses want more work from their employees, so they don't have to work. People working in bustling cities want to travel to the countryside and mountains to have freedom from the fast city life. Everyone wants to go home and relax, freedom from everything.

What if you don't have any boundations?

What if you don't have to go to a job to earn money? What if your home is in scenic mountains? What if you don't need to look after your kids? What if you have every basic thing taken care of?

Would you be happy? Would you be cheered up all the time? Would you be doing what you always wanted to do? Would you be more focused on your goals? Would you have any goals at all?

What would be the goal of your life if every basic thing is taken care of?

Would you work if you knew you would get the next meal anyway for your whole life? Would you talk to people if you knew you don't need to? Would you travel to the mountains if you were born in the mountains?

All of us do things because we want to achieve a goal. That goal is what restricts us from doing random things. And that is what makes us feel bounded. That boundation is, in principle, the opposite of freedom.

Do we bind ourselves to goals because we can't handle absolute freedom?
